True Scholars

As you all know, we here at Lambda Chi Alpha Tau Zeta value our academics and hold the standard very high for every individual. This year, Tolo Club awarded three freshmen scholarships for their outstanding achievement in their studies last semester . Congrats to Anthony Helms, Renn Smith-Eriksson, and De Johnson!

Dogs! Dogs!! Dogs!!!

This week, the men of Tau Zeta gave up time from their busy schedules to raise awareness for the Whitman County Humane Society. Your brothers manned a table on the mall to accept donations and spread the word of our goals. This was all in preparation for Fur Ball 2012 which will be this Saturday.

Tomorrow is the big day and everyone here is very excited. I will post pictures of the event in the next few days.

Recap to an Exciting Start

This is my first blog entry as new High Rho but it could not be a more interesting one. Lambda Chi is off to a strong academic start and all the men are eager to get back to top in grades.  After a refreshing winter break with almost no snow, we came back not expecting much.
However, we returned to see January snow that covered the whole campus only a week in. President Floyd closed the school on January 19th. A rare event for a Cougar, sledding and snowball fights ensued.

As I write this entry, snow plows are still clearing the streets around Tau Zeta. All the men here wish all alumni a great start to the year!

Video of Flag Pole

Here is the link to the video taken by Brother Chase Nordhoy.  As you can see, this flag pole looks great out in front of Tau Zeta.  We thank everyone who was a part of getting the flag pole to Tau Zeta!

Tau Talks October '11

Just this past Sunday, we had a great turnout for our annual Watermelon Bust.  We had a great time with the lovely sorority women that came over to Tau Zeta and participated.  We were also able to raise close to our goal of 5,000 pound of canned food for the Pullman food bank.  There is a very cool video posted on the blog right now of the days events from Watermelon Bust, please feel free to check it out!
A few weeks ago we had our Big Brother night followed by Associate Member Ceremony.  We currently have 26 AMs and they are loving every minute of Lambda Chi. We will be having initiation during the week of November 28th.  I will be sure to send out a reminder invitation as the time of initiation nears closer for alumni to attend this great occasion.
Tau Zeta was just visited the Lambda Chi Alpha’s Director of Chapter Services, John Holloway.  John met with every officer and came up with ways they can improve their position.  He gave us a lot of great tips and Tau Zeta was very fortunate to have him stay with us.  He helped Tau Zeta in a great way in trying to reach our goals and always reminded us to keep our crescent growing.
As I mentioned in the previous Tau Talks, Tau Zeta, made a purchase that is currently flying high in our front lawn.  That’s right, we now have a 30-foot flagpole right outside of the dining room.  It is proudly flying the American flag and soon to be flying a Lambda Chi Alpha flag as well.  Be sure to check the blog for the footage of the flag going into the ground.  We are very excited about our flagpole and admire it everyday.
Homecoming came fast this year, taking place this week.  We are lucky to have the lovely women of Kappa Alpha Theta as well as the men of Phi Kappa Tau for our partners this year.  Our Homecoming team is very excited for the coming events and has high hopes of winning Homecoming this year.  Tau Zeta is also very excited for our alumni to come back this weekend.  We will be having a barbeque for which all are welcome.  If you plan to come back for the game, or are just in town for Homecoming festivities, please stop by and say hello, we would love to see you.

Note from the President:
Alumni,

We are looking forward to welcoming you all back for another exciting Homecoming, and joining us for our Alumni BBQ Saturday. Each year, the turnout has been growing and we can’t wait to see you at the Tau Zeta chapter house. We will be giving house tours for those of you who have not seen the chapter house in the past few years, with all the new renovations. These tours will be Friday from 4-7pm, and Saturday during the BBQ and up until 3pm. That evening, we will have a closed house for the undergraduates to wind down homecoming and prepare for sorority serenades the next morning. The past few years we have had a few incidents with some alumni, and your support is greatly appreciated. We cant wait to see you at Tau Zeta and Go Cougs!

AMs Meet Their Big Brothers

Last night we had our Big/Little Brother night at Tau Zeta.  26 AMs met their Big Brothers last night and the event was a very fun and exciting one.  It is another step in the process towards initiation and all of the Associate Members were very excited to be able to associate themselves as a Lambda Chi Associate Member.  There will be a lot of learning and hard work in the coming weeks about Tau Zeta and LCA, but the AMs are up to the challenge and are looking forward to these opportunities.  Our chapter is continuing to grow tremendously and this is just another awesome thing that brings us closer together as we grow larger as a chapter.  We are all very proud of our AMs and little brothers and could not be more excited to the upcoming months!
